Abstract
This article provides a scientific and theoretical analysis of the emergence of symbolic imagery in lyric poetry, its historical formation processes, and the stages of its development in close connection with artistic thinking. It also examines the aesthetic essence of Symbolism, which emerged as an independent literary movement in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, its place in literature, and its influence on the development of lyrical consciousness. Based on the results of the research, the concept of symbolic imagery is explored from the perspectives of literary studies and philosophical-aesthetic theory, revealing the intrinsic interrelationship between symbol, image, metaphor, and artistic sign. In addition, the article offers a comprehensive discussion of the aesthetic, philosophical, and socio-cultural factors that contributed to the rise of the Symbolist movement, including the crisis of Romanticism, critical attitudes toward positivist thought, and the formation of a modernist worldview. Through a comparative analysis of Western and Eastern literary traditions, the study identifies both universal and national characteristics of symbolic imagery. Furthermore, the article elucidates the poetic structure and semantic layers of symbolic expression. Overall, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of symbolic thinking in lyric poetry.
