Abstract
The article examines the pragmatic features of phraseological units expressing personality traits. It focuses on their functions of evaluation, expressiveness, characterization, intensification, irony, humour, and interpersonal communication. Particular attention is given to the use of phraseological units in literary and communicative discourse, as well as their similarities and differences in English and Uzbek.
