Abstract
The research article provides a comprehensive and multifaceted examination of the theoretical and methodological foundations of hybridization, recognized as one of the most critical and rapidly evolving processes in contemporary interlinguistic interaction. The profound relevance of this study stems from the accelerating pace of global integration, pervasive societal digitization, and the dramatic intensification of cross-cultural communication, all of which are substantially transforming conventional communicative practices across both virtual and real-world environments. At the core of this study is a thorough conceptual and terminological analysis: the authors endeavor to rigorously define the essence of the “hybridization” construct while meticulously delineating it from closely related linguistic and sociolinguistic phenomena, including translanguaging, code-switching, code-mixing, language contact, lexical borrowing, polycodality, and multimodality. The methodological framework of this research incorporates a complex comparative-analytical method, a systemic-conceptual approach, a critical synthesis of existing scholarly literature, and typological classification methods. Through the integration of these analytical instruments, the paper elucidates the distinctive, integrative characteristics of hybridization as a dynamic process driven by the synergistic interplay of heterogeneous verbal and non-verbal (semiotic) resources. Special emphasis is placed on substantiating the mandatory application of a multidisciplinary approach when studying hybrid language formations within contemporary digital discourse. The theoretical insights and generalizations formulated in this paper establish a robust methodological foundation for future empirical and applied investigations in the fields of multilingualism, online communication, and modern sociolinguistics.
