Abstract
This article examines the evolution of magical realism in the works of American writer Jhumpa Lahiri. The author explores the themes of cultural trauma and the search for identity by examining how irrational elements are woven into the realistic fabric of her narratives. The article also devotes special attention to analyzing the novel «The Namesake» through the lens of the magical determination of names and elements of «spectrality» in her short fiction.
