Currently, the practice of higher education is undergoing significant changes. Ideas based on a person-centered approach to education using various innovative technologies are increasingly being introduced into the higher education system.

The use of innovative technologies in the modern higher education system is not only a requirement of new educational standards but also a specific necessity dictated by the realities of the creative world in which we live. This creates the need not only to update the system of training modern specialists but also to revise it thoroughly. After all, they will become reliable carriers of innovations in teaching English in the future.

Language is the most critical aspect of human civilization. Therefore, such an essential function of our intellect must be continuously improved using innovative technologies and methods. So, what is innovative education? And what are its main features? Innovative education is a new approach that includes a personal approach to education, the fundamentals of education, a creative beginning, professional skills, and the latest technologies. There are two approaches to "innovation": innovation as a process and innovation as the innovation itself. Innovative technologies introduced into education are based primarily on innovations. These include modern interactive systems and the latest generation of computer technologies.

The use of such technologies during classes has undoubted advantages. The educational process becomes enjoyable, independent learning skills are actively developed, a collective form of achieving the goal is envisaged, and a continuous exchange of ideas is envisaged.

Interactive education is the organization of cognitive activity in such a way that it is carried out in the form of joint activities of students. Accordingly, all participants in the educational process have an equal opportunity to contribute through the continuous exchange of their ideas, experience, and knowledge. Thus, the modern educator ceases to play the role of a filter that lets through an endless flow of information and performs an entirely different function—a kind of assistant in the work process, one of the sources of educational information.

Innovations in education are understood as innovations in the content of education, forms and methods of teaching, "teacher-student" relations, the use of information technologies in teaching, the introduction of new equipment, the organization of the educational process, its management, etc. Innovative technologies make it possible to implement one of the main goals of teaching the Russian language: to move from studying the subject as a systematic-structural education to learning it as a means of communication and thinking and to transfer educational and cognitive activity to a reproductive-creative level. To develop the creative abilities of students in the lesson, the following promising methodological methods should be used:

  • expressive reading, essay, clusters, insert (independent study of theoretical material), filling in tables, two-part diary, joint research, mutual discussion, round table discussion;
  • application of elements of the technology for solving inventive problems;
  • Classical lecture teaching, teaching with the help of audiovisual technical means, tests, and project methods.

The use of project technology increases and deepens the interest of students; develops creative abilities by forming students' competence in independent cognitive activity (interest in reading, development of curiosity, broadening their horizons), critical thinking; helps students acquire skills in working with large amounts of information, and research skills (seeing a problem and determining ways to solve it).

The characteristic indicators of innovative education are the student's spiritual and intellectual development achievement. The learning process becomes an exciting journey for students, during which they master independent learning skills through cooperation and research. Research abilities, speech, and intellectual qualities develop rapidly. In addition, the formation of communication and leadership qualities in students is carried out simultaneously with the learning process. The most characteristic innovative technologies currently used in education are information and communication, project research, person-oriented, game, and differentiated technologies. Problem-based learning and project-research technologies are most often used among the various pedagogical technologies. The main feature of this technology is the development of a high level of interest in educational activities and the activation of students' interest in knowledge. This is achieved by resolving emerging conflicts and creating problem situations in classes. To overcome the difficulties that can be overcome, students constantly need to acquire knowledge, skills, and qualifications. Problem-based learning is considered adequate if students can independently come to one or more conclusions, identify the relationship between events, all students participate in discussing the problem to one degree or another, and, after the lesson, students have a desire to discuss the proposed problem with their classmates and the teacher. Project-based learning creates a positive passion for independent learning. Students see the practical application of their knowledge. Preparing to defend their projects, students build their speeches in a well-founded, clear, and logical manner, along with rational thinking, also develops speech culture. Experience shows that working on a project allows even weak and often passive students in the learning process to express themselves and helps to develop creativity. Various non-traditional teaching methods also help develop cognitive activity, which significantly increases the student's interest in the academic subject and education in general.

Today, there are many non-standard methods of teaching: lesson - seminar, lesson - conversation, lesson - conference, lesson - cheerful starts, lesson - discussion, lesson - masquerade or theatrical performance, lesson - trip, lesson - excursion, lesson - test, lesson - game, lesson - project defence.

This is just a tiny part of the non-traditional methods of teaching, which allow students to interact with each other actively in the educational process. Almost all of them allow for raising problematic issues and creating problematic situations, solving complex tasks in the educational process, and stimulating interest in academic activities. Thus, innovative technologies arouse students' interest in the subject and develop and enrich students' speech; educational material presented in an unusual form is better assimilated by students.
